natural

Dress: Bohme | Jacket: Charlotte Russe | Necklace: Wet Seal | Hat: Wet Seal
The best part of having my hair this long is that I literally don't have to style it some days. When I get out of the shower and don't have time to blow dry it I just put a bit of mousse in it, pop a hat on and I'm good to go! It dries into nice natural waves. Hopefully it keeps my hair a little bit healthier too, since there's no type of heat on it. My hair could use all the health treatment it can get.
Being a grown up now means I don't have much spare money to splurge on a haircut. It's been almost a year since I've had even a trim.
Here's hoping now it'll be easier for me to save up to get it maintained.

10/7/13

Well hello.

Everything is Wet Seal.
I know I don't have the most eventful, exciting life but I do enjoy blogging and I know there are some people who follow this blog.
So, I'm sorry for being MIA the past few months. My blog has been under construction, a friend of mine is giving it a makeover for me. While she's been doing that I've been pretty busy myself. Since my last post I ended up getting a second job to help us more with finances. When I first started I was working 12 hour days and I was exhausted.
Now things are a little more stable and my schedules are working around each other, so I feel a lot better. So far it's definitely helped having that extra paycheck.

Hopefully now I'll have some time to blog again too, and I will put up some photos of our house since we've decorated a lot more now!

Today I got told by several people that I looked like Beetlejuice because of my leggings.
One girl actually told me I look like I came right out of a Tim Burton movie.
I am totally taking it as a compliment.

One of the girls at work decided we should wear certain styles every day of the week. For example; yesterday was maxi skirts and dresses; Tuesday was 'grunge'. Today was stripes!
Funny enough, we showed up to work this morning wearing almost the same outfit.
Twin Beetlejuices!

Three things about Tuesday.

1.) A good way to clean your coffee maker is by using vinegar, but doing so will make your whole house smell like vinegar. That smell is awful and makes me want to puke. But hey, after a few cycles of just water I was finally able to have a nicely brewed cup of coffee.

2.) I didn't have to work until 5:00 today. Having all that time before a shift, you would think I would be smart and get ready early. You would think. One of these days I will learn how to give myself enough time so that I don't rush myself. Someday....

3.) I did not start my day out in these boots. In fact, I didn't even purchase THESE boots. Last week I went into a shoe store called Forever Young and they were having a sale on all boots. Buy One Get One Free! Crystal and I ended up getting one pair each and splitting the price. Today I decided to wear mine for the first time. They were similar, but had a wedge and more buckles than these. Anyway, not even 2 minutes into my shift and I look down to see that the zipper was completely split open. Luckily I work at the mall and was able to walk down to the store and swap the damaged ones for a new pair. Unfortunately they didn't have my size in the style I originally bought, which was disappointing, but they did have this cute pair that was the same color. I do like them a lot so it's ok!
Maybe it's karma telling me to stop shopping.

Springy

Skirt: Charlotte Russe | Boots/Top/Jacket: Wet Seal | Earrings: Gift

Can I just say I love being able to look outside and not see snow? It really makes my day 10x better just to know it's not freezing anymore.
I was finally able to bust out a skirt that showed my legs {after finally shaving them....that was scary} and it feels great!
Some stuff came up at work today so I ended up needing to work a split-shift. I go back in at 5, which is fine because I was able to come home for a couple hours and hang out with my hubby! We went to Winger's for lunch, and even though they messed up my order, it was yummy. When we got home I "forced" him to take some pictures for me....it just works a lot better than my dumb self timer. He thinks he's funny and he took pictures of his shoe, the top of the tree, just my hand...stuff like that. Dork. Little does he know, I actually really liked the one of just my skirt. He's a pro and he doesn't even know.
But then he says "give me a smoulder" and I laugh a lot so I think the pictures turn out cute, even if he throws a little temper tantrum when I ask him to take them ;)

exhausted.

For the past 4 years I've been on sleeping pills, without them I haven't been able to sleep at all. It's miserable.
A couple weeks ago my prescription ran out and I needed to schedule an appointment with my doctor to get it filled. It was right before I left to go visit Randi in Fallon so I didn't get a chance to go, plus after talking with my mom she thought it might be a good idea for me to try and train my body to sleep on its own, and not be so dependent on pills.

That idea sucks. I am so tired and unable to feel well rested. I can get to sleep without them, but I don't sleep well and I hate it.
I. Am. Exhausted.

I just want to be able to have a full nights sleep without waking up on and off, without feeling like I'm barely asleep, without wanting to sleep allllll day.
Ugh.
Let's just say I'm not a happy camper and I'm starting to get really grumpy.

But, I'm unsure if I should get my prescription refilled or keep going on this way.
UGH.

hey chambray

Dress/Belt/Cardigan/Boots: Wet Seal
Hat/Tights/Earrings: Charlotte Russe

One of my favorite trends right now is chambray! It's still pretty cold outside but I'm itching for Spring to come, so I decided to bust out the dress I bought myself for Christmas. I did have to put some tights underneath because of the unfortunate chilly weather. Even though I want to deny winter, it's still there. Boo.

While we wait for Spring to show it's face I'll enjoy the lovely trends that are popping up. Including all the chambray tops, skirts and dresses!
Check out these picks I've got my eye on!

Today I got my first taste of what it's like to be an adult. Grocery shopping.
Obviously I've done it before but for certain things that I wanted, not needed. This time it was all on me and it was weird.
Hoping it gets easier and I learned to calm down over these silly things that give me anxiety. It's hard getting used to all these new things though, I'm really not used to it yet.

Hopefully Taran will be moving in this weekend so that's something to be excited about! Yay!

Ice Storm

Boots/Leggings: Wet Seal | Top: Gordman's | Necklace: Charlotte Russe

Today it rained pure ice all day long. I should have packed some ice skates with me to skate my way into the mall because walking in boots almost caused me to fall and bust my tailbone. The roads were awful too, I heard about so many accidents on the freeway all day long. When I got home I had to hold on to my fence to get up the driveway because it was pure ice. I stood on my back step snapping some pictures of the icicles hanging from the roof and I broke one off and threw it in the snow. At least I tried to throw it in the snow, but it was so frozen that the snow broke the icicle. That's how cold it is here in good ol' Utah right now. Ugh.

I am so tired of the freezing bitter cold, I'm ready for Spring warmth, longer days, less layers.

Dumbday, Monday, Tuesday

Sundays are the worst days to work.
For starters I have to get out of bed when I would rather snuggle with my handsome fiance. The days I have off we usually just hang out in sweats and relax together all day long. But unfortunately some days I have to go spend 8 hours at the mall where all the customers are mean and messy. {Seriously though, is there a general rule somewhere that says: "if you go shopping on a Sunday don't forget to be an ass hole"?}
Another reason: it's literally all day. My shift is from 11-7 and since it's winter time I'm coming out of the mall to darkness every time. It's not so bad in the summer, but it still feels like I'm there allll day.

I mean, it's my job and it comes with expectations, one of them being working that occasional Sunday. It's really not a huge deal, and I'm getting paid so I really can't complain.
They just suck.
I'm sure anyone in retail would agree.

Next week though, I'm all about sweat pants and food and Netflix with Taran.

Coral Orange vs Coral Pink

Top: Wet Seal
Necklace: Gift
Jeans: Charlotte Russe
Boots: Charlotte Russe

I got ready this morning in such a rush that I grabbed a necklace that I thought, at first glance, went well with the outfit.  As I was getting out of my car and was in direct sunlight, not the lighting of my house I noticed that the necklace was a completely different shade of coral. The necklace was more orange-ish while the pants were more pink-ish. I was a bit annoyed that I hadn't noticed it before and that I was going to go the rest of the day wearing a necklace that doesn't match. I even had to ask coworkers if I looked stupid.
But, then after 6 hours of work...thinking about inventory, and customers, and cleaning I completely forgot about the stupid necklace. And I decided I liked the two stupid colors together.

I do that a lot I've come to realize. I care too much about something so tiny and trivial, working myself up over it when it's really not.a.big.deal. Instead of focusing on more important things first I jump to assumptions over little details. I worry about what people think instead of what I think. I get irritated before I think things through.

Maybe if I take a second to let things roll off my shoulder and allow myself to relax a little bit I could improve a lot of life's little issues. Or big issues.

January Curse

What I Wore 1-09-13
Sweater/Leggings/Boots/Necklace: Wet Seal {surprise surprise}

I despise January.
Not only is it freezing cold, but it's also the month of Christmas present returns and no shoppers.
My store has been insanely dead for the past week now. The poor customers who do come in are attacked by us like we're vultures. It's my job, but I always feel annoying when I ask the same customer 4 times if they're doing ok. I'm sure they want to punch me.

On a much darker side of that....I also hate January because I have never received good news.
Back in 2010 this was the month that we found out my grandma had cancer and not long after that my grandpa passed away from years and years of suffering with emphysema. It was the most devastating month of my whole life thus far. In 2011 Taran found out that his grandma was about to lose her battle with colon cancer, and that same month she passed. I was heartbroken for Taran and his family, and also crushed because I never got a chance to meet her.
Last year in 2012 I found out that my dear uncle Scott passed away after his long fight with HIV/AIDs. It was terrible because no one had heard from him in such a long time, and we found out long after he was actually gone. I was never super close to him, but he was a talented and good man and I'm still sad I never got to see him one last time.

This year, I hate to say, we discovered that chemo treatment is not working for my grandma. I'm not going to go too far into depth with this one because it's very hard on me. It's hard to even type this and think about it.
Today I also found out that cousin's grandma {her mom's mom...no relation to me} passed away this morning. I don't know much about her, but I know she's had diabetes and has been really sick for a really long time. Despite things that have happened and all the unresolved issues....all that aside, I am sad for them.

I'm sorry this post jumped from work related complaints to something so tragic, but to be honest with you my mind has been in tangles. Like chains of jewelry twisted together. I am having a hard time even forming my words together.
I will keep you all updated and if anyone has any questions don't hesitate to ask. I'll try to untangle my messy brain and make some sense of things.

xoxo

Strip

As much as I love clothes and fashion there is nothing better than coming home after a long day and take off all those pieces that you've had enough of. Such as taking your bracelet off because it's making your arm sweaty, or taking off your belt because you're sick of adjusting it.
It just feels nice to relax, especially when it's hot outside.
Extremely hot.
Summer is coming :)

Dress Up

Dress: Ross | Belt: Rue 21 | Boots: Charlotte Russe | Necklace: Vintage | Bracelet: Gift
A couple of months ago my boss introduced an idea to our team called the Personal Stylist Program. We were able to launch at get started right away with our friends and family. It has turned into one of my favorite things. I've always enjoyed being creative with the product and making new outfits, but with the Personal Stylist program I actually get to help people with my outfits.
What the program entails is pretty much what it sounds like. A guest/customer sets up an appointment and we provide one associate to pick out 5 complete outfits; jewelry, shoes. layers, bags...the whole nine yards. You come in and your outfits are set and ready for you to try on! Your stylist will be there the whole time to help with size adjustments or opinions and we're always willing to help.
It really helps with people who are always unsure about 'piecing together the look' and how to mix and match styles. Also, it's good for girls who have a busy schedule and may not have time to actually try outfits on to see how they look.

I hope it helps girls gain more self confidence and feel more comfortable with how things look on their bodies. I definitely enjoy helping pick out an outfit that a customer just falls in love with. Honestly, if this could be my career...just styling...I would have no complaints. I'm sure I would absolutely love it.

Today I did a styling on my best friend and this was her second time. I helped another girl out recently who was looking for church clothes. I have a blast and I know the girls I've styled have had fun too.
It's one thing that I really enjoy doing and that I know I'm good at.

If you live in Utah and are curious for more information, shoot me an email or contact me through Facebook and we can talk more.
Or if you are reading this through my Facebook and you would be interested in having me style you, please send me a message and we can schedule you an appointment.
