frustration | electra heart

Today I had to get up and run to my store to give some keys to a coworker. Since I was going to be in that part of town anyway I figured I'd swing by the Social Security Office and finally get my married name documented. It's on a street with not much space for parking, so I had to circle the building a few times until I found one. Luckily I got a good spot up front, and I had a book with me just in case, because I've heard it can take forever to get helped there. I walked in and the security guard told me that I was in the right place, but the office closes at Noon on Wednesdays. Just Wednesdays....of course, the day I chose. I was a little disappointed, but it was fine, no big deal. I decided to just go to the DMV and get my driver's license changed next. I wasn't sure where it was exactly because I hadn't been there in years, so I called my mom to ask. She gave me general directions and I thought I could figure it out from there, plus use my iPhone maps. Bad idea. The map app is the most awful thing ever. It had no idea where I wanted to go apparently and I started to get so frustrated with it that I pulled into a parking lot to call my mom again. She gave me better directions and I tried again. Once I finally found it I was in the wrong lane and nobody would let me over...{hmm, typical Utah} so I had to turn around and go back. I was starting to get really annoyed because it was just a waste of gas to be driving up and down these streets and not getting anywhere. Finally I pulled in to the DMV and filled out an application, and luckily the wait time was very short. I walked up to the desk and the guy working asked me if I had my birth certificate and my Social Security card. Um, nope.
I thought all I needed was my marriage license...apparently the law changed 3 years ago.
I was so frustrated because I had driven in circles to get to these places and I felt like I was finally getting something done that I've been waiting to do for 2 1/2 months. It's truly not a big deal and I can always go back, I don't need it right away...I had just been putting it off and the day I decided to do it everything went wrong. I was so irritated that I had to find a way to chill out, since I was around town anyway I just did a little retail therapy. I bought a cute wooden "G" from Michael's so I can start a new craft project and some note cards for my pen pals. I just love writing and receiving letters! It's my favorite.
That definitely cheered me up, and everything was fine afterward, I just had a rough afternoon!

On Monday night Crystal, Jerrica and I went down to Salt Lake to see Marina & the Diamonds in concert. She's an adorable little British pop star who I heard of through Crystal and many of her songs actually play at my work. Her music is super fun and her voice is lovely, so I was glad to see she was coming to Utah!
We got all dolled up and fancy for the show, and stood at the top balcony {21 + section woo!}
I had a blast! She is great live, full of energy and very talented. We sang and danced and had a really good time.

If you haven't heard of her I definitely recommend checking her out. She is different and may not be for everyone, but I adore her!

He is an angel sent from heaven to deliver Platinum Records unto us.

Last week I received a text message from my best friend Crystal. The conversation went a little bit like this:

Crystal: Hey can I dibs you for next Saturday? The 13th?
Me: Sure! For what?
Crystal: WANNA GO SEE JOSH GROBAN
Me: UM. YEAH!!!

That was basically all it took! She had ended up buying the tickets spur of the moment and asked me to go with her, her treat. Seriously, is your best friend as awesome as mine? I didn't think so.
On Saturday Crystal picked me up from work and we headed to Salt Lake City. I was so excited! My mom had seen him live when he came to Utah the last time and she said he was amazing. And that he would not disappoint.
We got there and hit the merch table, trying to avoid the mob of crazy women {no joke}. I bought my mom a coffee mug and myself a program.
Luckily once we got to our seats we didn't have a long wait for the show started.

Let me just say...if you think Josh Groban sounds nice through your speakers, you should hear him live. Incredible.
I don't understand how that voice comes out of that guy, but boy am I glad it does! He is truly amazing, and he has the best personality which just makes him that much better. He's hilarious and had us cracking up the whole time.
There was this marquee going around the arena before the show telling people that they could text a question in and Josh would answer them during the show. One question was about his dog, one was about clouds {haha} and the last one someone asked him if he would sing some of the Kanye tweets live. If you haven't seen that video it is a must. So. Funny. I was thrilled that he sang a couple of them, and I was rolling!

His encore song was You Raise Me Up and I called my mom to let her listen to it, since it is one of her very favorites.

After the show Crystal and I went to In-N-Out Burger and bought her dinner. {How could I not? She is so great}

It was a wonderful night and I'm so grateful I got to spend it with my very best friend. Love you CC Magee! ;)

Put your paws up little monsters!

I'm so sorry for the blogger's neglect lately, but listen to this:
I got to hang out with Taran on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and today. That never happens! Usually it's just a weekend thing!! So I'm sure you'll all understand that I wanted to enjoy my time with my amazing boyfriend. Speaking of him, how did I get so lucky? I mean...sometimes I just think "holy crap I totally hit the jackpot with this dude!" he is so so so wonderful.

Also the other reason for my blogging hiatus is that I've been recovering from last week. Something about coming home from a vacation just makes me unbelievably tired. Like, I just wanted to curl up in a ball in my sweat pants and sleep and sleep. I also worked on Friday and went shopping for an outfit to wear Saturday.

What was Saturday you might ask? Why it was the Lady Gaga MonsterBall Tour!
Crystal and I bought our tickets LAST May and it seems like it's been for-ev-er, but the day finally came! I knew I wanted to dress up funky. {because come on, it's Lady Gaga} So I bought some turquoise and platinum blonde extensions, big bows to clip in my hair, false eyelashes, glitter mascara, a sequin-y top and a giant bow ring. Fun!
We drove to Salt Lake and got in line outside the Energy Solutions Arena The Delta Center {I've lived in Utah my whole life...they can't just change The Delta Center to something stupid that doesn't even sound like what it actually is. Dumb!}
We had General Admission tickets so we got in and decided to buy merch. first since it would be crazy after the show. I bought a "Born This Way" shirt with the tour cities on the back, Crystal bought the same one.

We got down to the floor met up with Becca and had a blast checking out everyone's amazing costumes. People went ALL out and I saw a lot of iconic outfits of Gaga's that people re-created.
The Scissor Sisters opened - I had never heard of them before and I expected a girl group, but there were some guys in the bands too! The 2 main singers were a man and a woman. They were fun, and I enjoyed their performance even though I didn't know their music. I like their style.

After they were done we waited, and waited and, yes, waited some more for Gaga to come on. Her set was huge and I can see why it took them forever, but I was really getting impatient!
Finally the curtain opened and there she was in all her glory.

That woman puts on a damn good show. I had so. much. fun. She is so fantastic, and she loves her fans so much. That's one thing that is so inspiring about her, she's passionate about her music and she's passionate about her fans too. She just wants them to be happy. At one point she was talking about how she wanted Born This Way to make it to No. 1 at least for only a week and now it's been No. 1 for about 5. She was saying how blessed she is and she almost started to cry!
She also talked about how growing up people always told her she wasn't going to go anywhere. They said she would never have a No. 1 single, or win a Grammy.
Well she proved them wrong.

She's so talented. She sang Born This Way as a ballad while playing the piano {which was on fire o.O } and I honestly almost cried.

We were so close to the stage and I got some amazing pictures!
All in all it was probably one of the best concerts I've ever been to. ♥♥♥
